Nikkhepakaṇḍa

[795] Therein, what is conceit (māna)? The conceit 'I am superior,' the conceit 'I am equal,' the conceit 'I am inferior' — whatever conceit of such a kind there is: conceiving, the state of being conceited, loftiness, haughtiness, (flaunting a) banner, hoisting up, the desire of the mind (citta) for a banner — this is called conceit.
