[870] Therein, what is failure in morality (sīla-vipatti)? That which is bodily transgression (vītikkama), verbal transgression, bodily and verbal transgression — this is called failure in morality. All immorality (dussīlya), too, is failure in morality.
Therein, what is failure in view (diṭṭhi-vipatti)? "There is nothing given, nothing offered, nothing sacrificed; there is no fruit or result of good and bad actions (kamma); there is no this world; there is no other world; there is no mother; there is no father; there are no spontaneously born beings (opapātika); there are no ascetics and brahmins in the world, faring rightly and practicing rightly, who, having realized this world and the other world for themselves by direct knowledge (abhiññā), proclaim them" — whatever view of such a kind, resort to views (diṭṭhigata) … perverted grasp: this is called failure in view. All wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi), too, is failure in view.
