[885] Which phenomena (dhammā) are to be abandoned by seeing (dassanena pahātabbā)? The four arisings of mind (cittuppāda) associated with wrong view (diṭṭhigata) and the arising of mind accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā) — these phenomena are to be abandoned by seeing.
Which phenomena are to be abandoned by development (bhāvanāya pahātabbā)? The arising of mind accompanied by restlessness (uddhacca) — these phenomena are to be abandoned by development.
The four arisings of mind dissociated from wrong view and accompanied by greed (lobha), and the two arisings of mind accompanied by grief (domanassa) — these phenomena are in some cases to be abandoned by seeing, in some cases to be abandoned by development.
Which phenomena are to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development?
