[985] Which phenomena (dhammā) are fixed (niyata)?
The four arisings of mind (cittuppāda) associated with wrong view (diṭṭhigata-sampayutta), the two arisings of mind accompanied by grief (domanassa) — these phenomena may be fixed, may be not fixed. The four paths, which are unincluded (apariyāpanna) — these phenomena are fixed.
Which phenomena are not fixed (aniyata)?
The four arisings of mind dissociated from wrong view and accompanied by greed, the arising of mind accompanied by doubt, the arising of mind accompanied by restlessness, the wholesome in the three planes (bhūmi), resultant (vipāka) in the four planes, functional indeterminate (kiriyā-abyākata) in the three planes, and form, and Nibbāna — these phenomena are not fixed.
