[1003] Therein, which are the six kinds of equanimity (upekkhā) based on the household life (gehasita)? Regarding forms that are a basis for equanimity (upekkhaṭṭhānika): the mental [experience], based on the household life, that is neither agreeable nor disagreeable, the neither-painful-nor-pleasant felt experience born of mind-contact (cetosamphassa), the neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling (vedanā) born of mind-contact. Regarding sounds that are a basis for equanimity … Regarding odors that are a basis for equanimity … Regarding tastes that are a basis for equanimity … Regarding tangible objects that are a basis for equanimity … Regarding mental phenomena (dhammā) that are a basis for equanimity: the mental [experience], based on the household life, that is neither agreeable nor disagreeable, the neither-painful-nor-pleasant felt experience born of mind-contact, the neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling born of mind-contact. These are the six kinds of equanimity based on the household life.
