[1071] These are the eighteen currents of craving (taṇhāvicarita) dependent on the internal; these are the eighteen currents of craving dependent on the external. Gathered together and combined as one, there are thirty-six currents of craving. Thus, such thirty-six currents of craving that are past, thirty-six currents of craving that are future, and thirty-six currents of craving that are present—gathered together and combined as one, there are the one hundred and eight currents of craving.
