[11] Therein, which feeling (vedanā) is gross (oḷārikā), which subtle (sukhumā)?
Unwholesome feeling is gross; wholesome and indeterminate feeling is subtle. Wholesome and unwholesome feeling is gross; indeterminate feeling is subtle. Painful feeling is gross; pleasant feeling and neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling are subtle. Pleasant and painful feeling is gross; neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling is subtle. The feeling of one who has not entered attainment (asamāpanna) is gross; the feeling of one who has entered attainment (samāpanna) is subtle. Feeling subject to taints (sāsavā) is gross; feeling not subject to taints (anāsavā) is subtle.
Or alternatively, with reference to this or that feeling, taken each in turn, feeling should be seen as gross or subtle.
