[15] Therein, which perception (saññā) is past? That perception which is past, ceased, departed, changed, vanished, utterly vanished; which, having arisen, has departed; which is past, classed as belonging to the past — perception born of eye-contact (cakkhusamphassajā saññā), perception born of ear-contact, perception born of nose-contact, perception born of tongue-contact, perception born of body-contact, perception born of mind-contact: this is called past perception.
Therein, which perception is future? That perception which is not born, not come to be, not begotten, not produced, not fully produced, not manifest, not arisen, not fully arisen, not risen up, not fully risen up; which is future, classed as belonging to the future — perception born of eye-contact … perception born of mind-contact: this is called future perception.
Therein, which perception is present? That perception which is born, come to be, begotten, produced, fully produced, manifest, arisen, fully arisen, risen up, fully risen up; which is present, classed as belonging to the present — perception born of eye-contact … perception born of mind-contact: this is called present perception.
