[150] Therein, what is lamentation (parideva)?
For one afflicted by loss of relatives (ñātibyasana), or for one afflicted by loss of wealth, or for one afflicted by loss through illness, or for one afflicted by loss of virtue, or for one afflicted by loss of view; for one possessed of one or another loss, for one afflicted by one or another painful state (dukkhadhamma), there is crying, lamenting, the act of crying, the act of lamenting, the state of crying, the state of lamenting, speech, prattle, rambling, wailing, the act of wailing, the state of wailing — this is called lamentation.
