[155] Therein, what is "separation from the loved is suffering (dukkha)" (piyehi vippayogo dukkho)?
Here, someone has forms, sounds, odours, tastes, and tangible objects that are wished for, desired, and agreeable; or there are those who desire his good, desire his welfare, desire his comfort, desire his security from bondage (yogakkhema)—mother, or father, or brother, or sister, or friends, or colleagues, or relatives and kinsmen. Whatever non-association, non-meeting, non-concourse, non-intermingling there is with them—this is called "separation from the loved is suffering."
