[196] Therein, what is the origin of suffering (dukkhasamudaya)? Craving (taṇhā), the remaining defilements (kilesa), the remaining unwholesome phenomena (dhammā), the three wholesome roots (kusalamūla) that are subject to the taints (sāsava), and the remaining wholesome phenomena subject to the taints — this is called the origin of suffering.
