[173] Therein, what is suffering (dukkha)?
The remaining defilements (kilesa), the remaining unwholesome (akusala) phenomena (dhammā), the three wholesome roots (kusalamūla) that are subject to taints (sāsava), the remaining wholesome (kusala) phenomena that are subject to taints, the results (vipāka) — themselves subject to taints — of wholesome and unwholesome phenomena, those phenomena that are functional (kiriya), neither wholesome nor unwholesome and not results of kamma, and all form (rūpa) — this is called suffering.
