Wholesome (kusala) volition (cetanā), of the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), of the form sphere (rūpāvacara), consisting in giving (dānamaya), consisting in virtue (sīlamaya), consisting in mental development (bhāvanāmaya) — this is called the formation of merit.

Unwholesome (akusala) volition, of the sense sphere — this is called the formation of demerit.
