[265] Therein, what is existence with clinging as condition (upādānapaccayā bhavo)?
Existence (bhava) is twofold: there is kamma-existence (kammabhava); there is rebirth-existence (upapattibhava).
Therein, what is kamma-existence?
The formation of merit (puññābhisaṅkhāra), the formation of demerit (apuññābhisaṅkhāra), the formation of the imperturbable (āneñjābhisaṅkhāra) — this is called kamma-existence. Also, all kamma leading to existence (bhavagāmikamma) is kamma-existence.
Therein, what is rebirth-existence?
Sense-sphere existence (kāmabhava), form-sphere existence (rūpabhava), formless-sphere existence (arūpabhava), percipient existence (saññābhava), non-percipient existence (asaññābhava), neither-percipient-nor-non-percipient existence (nevasaññānāsaññābhava), one-constituent existence (ekavokārabhava), four-constituent existence (catuvokārabhava), five-constituent existence (pañcavokārabhava) — this is called rebirth-existence.
Thus, this kamma-existence and this rebirth-existence — this is called existence with clinging as condition.
