[477] "He strives" (padahati): Herein, what is striving (padhāna)? That arousing of energy (vīriyārambha) which is mental (cetasika), … right effort (sammāvāyāma) — this is called striving. He is endowed with this striving, … possessed of it; therefore it is said, "he strives."
