[513] Therein, what is mind (citta)?
That which is mind, mentality (mano), mentation (mānasa), … the corresponding mind-consciousness element (tajjā manoviññāṇadhātu) — this is called mind.
Therein, what is concentration (samādhi)?
That which is stability of mind (cittassa ṭhiti), … right concentration (sammāsamādhi) — this is called concentration.
Therein, what is the volitional formation of striving (padhānasaṅkhāra)?
That which is the mental initiation of energy (cetasiko viriyārambho), … right effort (sammāvāyāma) — this is called the volitional formation of striving.
Thus with this mind, with this concentration, and with this volitional formation of striving he is endowed, … possessed; therefore it is said: "possessed of mind, concentration, and the volitional formation of striving" (cittasamādhipadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgato).
