[520] Therein, what is zeal (chanda)? That which is zeal, the making of zeal (chandīkatā), desire to act, wholesome zeal for dhamma (kusalo dhammacchando) — this is called zeal.
Therein, what is concentration (samādhi)? That which is steadiness of the mind (citta) … right concentration (sammāsamādhi), the concentration factor of awakening (samādhisambojjhaṅga), a factor of the path (magga), included in the path — this is called concentration.
Therein, what is the volitional formation of striving (padhānasaṅkhāra)? That which is the mental arousing of energy (vīriyārambha) … right effort (sammāvāyāma), the energy factor of awakening (vīriyasambojjhaṅga), a factor of the path, included in the path — this is called the volitional formation of striving.
Thus, with this zeal, with this concentration, and with this volitional formation of striving, it is endowed … possessed. Therefore it is called "possessed of zeal, concentration, and the volitional formation of striving (chandasamādhipadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgato)."
