[770] Five training precepts (sikkhāpada): the training precept of abstinence (veramaṇī) from the destruction of life (pāṇātipāta); the training precept of abstinence from taking what is not given (adinnādāna); the training precept of abstinence from misconduct in sensual pleasures (kāmesu micchācāra); the training precept of abstinence from false speech (musāvāda); the training precept of abstinence from liquor, wine, and intoxicants that are a basis for heedlessness (surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhāna).
