Abhidhammapiṭaka · Vibhaṅga · Vol. 35 · Section 781

[781] The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā): 1. The analytic insight of consequence (attha-paṭisambhidā), 2. The analytic insight of origin (dhamma-paṭisambhidā), 3. The analytic insight of language (nirutti-paṭisambhidā), 4. The analytic insight of ready wit (paṭibhāṇa-paṭisambhidā). Knowledge (ñāṇa) of aging and death (jarāmaraṇa) is the analytic insight of consequence; knowledge of the origin (samudaya) of aging and death is the analytic insight of origin; knowledge of the cessation (nirodha) of aging and death is the analytic insight of consequence; knowledge of the way of practice (paṭipadā) leading to the cessation of aging and death is the analytic insight of origin; therein, knowledge of the utterance of the language of dhamma (dhammaniruttābhilāpa) is the analytic insight of language; knowledge regarding knowledges is the analytic insight of ready wit.
