[829] Therein, which are the four discriminations (paṭisambhidā)? The discrimination of meaning (attha-paṭisambhidā), the discrimination of dhamma (dhamma-paṭisambhidā), the discrimination of language (nirutti-paṭisambhidā), and the discrimination of sagacity (paṭibhāṇa-paṭisambhidā).
Knowledge (ñāṇa) of meaning is the discrimination of meaning; knowledge of dhamma is the discrimination of dhamma; knowledge therein of the enunciation of the language of dhamma is the discrimination of language; knowledge regarding knowledges is the discrimination of sagacity. These are the four discriminations.
