Abhidhammapiṭaka · Vibhaṅga · Vol. 35 · Section 899

[899] Therein, what is overestimation (adhimāna)? The perception of having reached what has not been reached, the perception of having done what has not been done, the perception of having attained what has not been attained, the perception of having realized what has not been realized; that which is conceit (māna) of such a kind — conceiving, the state of being conceited, loftiness, haughtiness, (flaunting a) banner, self-exaltation, the desire of the mind (citta) for a banner — this is called overestimation.
