[923] Therein, what is muddle-mindedness (muṭṭhasacca)? That which is absence of mindfulness (assati), absence of recollection (ananussati), absence of recall (appaṭissati), absence of mindfulness, the state of not remembering (asaraṇatā), the state of not retaining (adhāraṇatā), superficiality (pilāpanatā), forgetfulness (sammusanatā) — this is called muddle-mindedness.
Therein, what is lack of clear comprehension (asampajañña)? That which is absence of knowledge (aññāṇa), absence of seeing (adassana), … the bolt of ignorance (avijjālaṅgī), delusion (moha), the unwholesome root (akusalamūla) — this is called lack of clear comprehension.
