[929] Therein, which are the three unwholesome elements (akusaladhātu)? The element of sensual pleasure (kāmadhātu), the element of ill will (byāpādadhātu), the element of cruelty (vihiṃsādhātu).
Therein, which is the element of sensual pleasure? Thought of sensual pleasure (kāmavitakka) is the element of sensual pleasure. Thought of ill will (byāpādavitakka) is the element of ill will. Thought of cruelty (vihiṃsāvitakka) is the element of cruelty.
Therein, which is thought of sensual pleasure? That thinking (takka), thought (vitakka), … wrong intention (micchāsaṅkappa) which is connected with sensual pleasure — this is called thought of sensual pleasure.
Therein, which is thought of ill will? That thinking, thought, … wrong intention which is connected with ill will — this is called thought of ill will.
Therein, which is thought of cruelty? That thinking, thought, … wrong intention which is connected with cruelty — this is called thought of cruelty.
These are the three unwholesome elements.
