[1024] [Sakavādin:] Are all fetters (saṃyojana) abandoned by the path of Arahantship (arahattamagga)? [Paravādin:] Yes. [Sakavādin:] Was it not said by the Blessed One that the abandonment without remainder (anavasesappahāna) of greed for fine-material existence (rūparāga), greed for immaterial existence (arūparāga), conceit (māna), restlessness (uddhacca), and ignorance (avijjā) is Arahantship (arahatta)? [Paravādin:] Yes. [Sakavādin:] If it was said by the Blessed One that the abandonment without remainder of greed for fine-material existence, greed for immaterial existence, conceit, restlessness, and ignorance is Arahantship, then surely it should not be said: "All fetters are abandoned by the path of Arahantship."
