[1179] Sakavādin: Is there no result (vipāka) of the noble dhamma (ariyadhamma)? Paravādin: Yes. Sakavādin: Is not asceticism (sāmañña) of great fruit, is not brahminhood (brahmañña) of great fruit? Paravādin: Yes. Sakavādin: If asceticism is of great fruit and brahminhood is of great fruit, then indeed, sir, you should not say: "There is no result of the noble dhamma."
