[1613] [Paravādin:] "Is there indeed a discourse (suttanta) [that says]: 'Bhikkhus, with aging-and-death (jarāmaraṇa) as condition (paccaya), birth (jāti); with birth as condition, existence (bhava)'?"
[Sakavādin:] "There is not."
[Paravādin:] "In that case, volitional formations (saṅkhārā) [come to be] only with ignorance (avijjā) as condition, and it should not be said that ignorance also [comes to be] with volitional formations as condition; clinging (upādāna) [comes to be] only with craving (taṇhā) as condition, and it should not be said that craving also [comes to be] with clinging as condition."
