[Paravādin:] Should it not be said that the person (puggala) is apprehended as a real and ultimate fact (sacchikaṭṭha-paramaṭṭha)?
[Sakavādin:] Yes (āmantā).
[Paravādin:] Is there not someone who performs the marvels of psychic power (iddhi)?
[Sakavādin:] Yes.
[Paravādin:] If there is someone who performs the marvels of psychic power, then indeed, good sir, you should say that the person is apprehended as a real and ultimate fact.
[Paravādin:] Should it not be said that the person is apprehended as a real and ultimate fact?
[Sakavādin:] Yes.
[Paravādin:] Is there not someone who hears sounds with the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu) … who knows the minds (citta) of others … who recollects past abodes … who sees forms (rūpa) with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu) … who realizes the destruction of the taints (āsava)?
[Sakavādin:] Yes.
[Paravādin:] If there is someone who realizes the destruction of the taints, then indeed, good sir, you should say that the person is apprehended as a real and ultimate fact.
[Sakavādin:] Granting that "there is someone who performs the marvels of psychic power" — is it then by that reason that the person is apprehended as a real and ultimate fact?
[Paravādin:] Yes.
[Sakavādin:] He who performs the marvels of psychic power — is precisely he the person, while he who does not perform the marvels of psychic power is not the person?
[Paravādin:] It should not be said thus. …
[Sakavādin:] He who hears sounds with the divine ear element … he who knows the minds of others … he who recollects past abodes … he who sees forms with the divine eye … he who realizes the destruction of the taints — is precisely he the person, while he who does not realize the destruction of the taints is not the person?
[Paravādin:] It should not be said thus. …
