[1708] [Sakavādin:] Should it not be said: "The Saṅgha accepts an offering (dakkhiṇā)"?
[Paravādin:] Yes.
[S.:] But is not the Saṅgha worthy of gifts (āhuneyya), worthy of hospitality (pāhuneyya), worthy of offerings (dakkhiṇeyya), worthy of reverential salutation (añjalikaraṇīya), the unsurpassed field of merit (puññakkhetta) for the world?
[P.:] Yes.
[S.:] If the Saṅgha is worthy of gifts, worthy of hospitality, worthy of offerings, worthy of reverential salutation, the unsurpassed field of merit for the world, then indeed, good sir, it should be said: "The Saṅgha accepts an offering."
