[1728] It should not be said: "A gift given to the Buddha is of great fruit"? — Yes.
But was it not said by the Blessed One:
"Neither in this world nor yet in any other
is there found one better than or equal to the Buddha,
who has attained the foremost place among those worthy of gifts (āhuneyya),
for those who desire merit, who seek abundant fruit"
— is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)? — Yes.
Then indeed a gift given to the Buddha is of great fruit.
