[1796] S. Could the eternalist view (sassata-diṭṭhi) arise in a person who is fixed (niyata) through the annihilationist view (uccheda-diṭṭhi)? P. Yes. S. If the eternalist view could arise in a person who is fixed through the annihilationist view, then indeed, good sir, it should not be said that "there is absolute fixity (accanta-niyāmatā) for the ordinary person (puthujjana)."
