[184]
[Sakavādin:] "Is the person (puggala) apprehended as a real and ultimate fact (sacchikaṭṭhaparamaṭṭhena)?"
[Paravādin:] "Yes."
[Sakavādin:] "Is not the Blessed One a speaker of truth, a speaker at the right time, a speaker of what is real, a speaker of what is so, a speaker of what is not untrue, a speaker of what is not otherwise?"
[Paravādin:] "Yes."
[Sakavādin:] "It was said by the Blessed One: '"It is only suffering (dukkha) that, in arising, arises; only suffering that, in ceasing, ceases" — one does not doubt this, one is not perplexed; one's knowledge (ñāṇa) herein is independent of others. It is to this extent, Kaccāna, that there is right view (sammādiṭṭhi).'⁴ Is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?"
[Paravādin:] "Yes."
[Sakavādin:] "Then indeed it should not be said: 'The person is apprehended as a real and ultimate fact.'"
