[1859] S. Does the Arahant (arahā) attain final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) with a wholesome mind (kusala-citta)?

S. Does the Arahant attain final Nibbāna while accumulating, while dismantling, while abandoning, while clinging, while scattering, while amassing, while extinguishing, … while kindling?
P. It should not be said thus. …
S. Is it not so that the Arahant neither accumulates nor dismantles, but abides having dismantled?
P. Yes.
S. If the Arahant neither accumulates nor dismantles, but abides having dismantled, then indeed, good sir, it should not be said: "The Arahant attains final Nibbāna with a wholesome mind."
S. Is it not so that the Arahant neither abandons nor clings, but abides having abandoned; neither scatters nor amasses, but abides having scattered? Is it not so that the Arahant neither extinguishes nor kindles, but abides having extinguished?
P. Yes.
S. If the Arahant neither extinguishes nor kindles, but abides having extinguished, then indeed, good sir, it should not be said: "The Arahant attains final Nibbāna with a wholesome mind."
