S. The Arahant, falling away from Arahatship — where does he become established?
P. In the Fruition of Non-Returning (anāgāmi-phala).
S. The Non-Returner (anāgāmī), falling away from the Fruition of Non-Returning — where does he become established?
P. In the Fruition of Once-Returning (sakadāgāmi-phala).
S. The Once-Returner (sakadāgāmī), falling away from the Fruition of Once-Returning — where does he become established?
P. In the Fruition of Stream-Entry (sotāpatti-phala).
S. Does the Stream-Enterer (sotāpanna), falling away from the Fruition of Stream-Entry, become established in the plane of the ordinary person (puthujjana-bhūmi)?
P. It should not be said thus.
S. Acknowledge the refutation (niggaha): if the Arahant, falling away from Arahatship, becomes established in the Fruition of Non-Returning; if the Non-Returner, falling away from the Fruition of Non-Returning, becomes established in the Fruition of Once-Returning; if the Once-Returner, falling away from the Fruition of Once-Returning, becomes established in the Fruition of Stream-Entry — then indeed, sir, it must be said that the Stream-Enterer, falling away from the Fruition of Stream-Entry, becomes established in the plane of the ordinary person.
