[239] S. Does the Arahant fall away from Arahantship (arahatta)? P. Yes. S. Have not the establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) been developed by the Arahant for the abandonment of lust (rāga) … the right exertions (sammappadhāna) been developed, the bases for success (iddhipāda) been developed, the faculties (indriya) been developed, the powers (bala) been developed, the factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) been developed? P. Yes. S. If the factors of awakening have been developed by the Arahant for the abandonment of lust, then indeed, good sir, it should not be said: "The Arahant falls away from Arahantship."
