[249] S.: Does the Arahant fall away from Arahantship (arahatta)?
P.: Yes.
S.: Is there an accumulation (paṭicaya) of what has been done?
P.: It should not be said thus.
S.: Is there an accumulation of what has been done?
P.: Yes.
S.: Was it not said by the Blessed One:
"For that bhikkhu rightly liberated, whose mind (citta) is at peace,
there is no accumulation of what has been done; no task remains to be done.
As a rock of one solid mass is not stirred by the wind,
so forms (rūpā), tastes, sounds, smells, and contacts one and all,
phenomena (dhammā) desirable and undesirable, do not make one who is Such (tādī) tremble;
his mind stands firm, released, and he contemplates its vanishing"?¹
Is there indeed such a discourse?
P.: Yes.
S.: Then indeed it should not be said that there is an accumulation of what has been done.
