[521] P. Should it not be said that there is non-knowledge (aññāṇa) in an Arahant?
S. Yes.
P. Is it not the case that an Arahant may not know the name and lineage of women and men, may not know what is the road and what is not the road, may not know the names of grasses, woods, and great forest trees?
S. Yes.
P. If an Arahant may not know the name and lineage of women and men, may not know what is the road and what is not the road, may not know the names of grasses, woods, and great forest trees, then indeed, good sir, it should be said that there is non-knowledge in an Arahant.
S. Is it because an Arahant may not know the name and lineage of women and men, may not know what is the road and what is not the road, may not know the names of grasses, woods, and great forest trees, that there is non-knowledge in an Arahant?
P. Yes.
S. Might an Arahant not know the Fruition of Stream-Entry (sotāpattiphala), or the Fruition of Once-Returning (sakadāgāmiphala), or the Fruition of Non-Returning (anāgāmiphala), or Arahantship (arahatta)?
P. It should not be said thus. …
