[610] [Paravādin:] Should it not be said: "There is utterance of speech (vacībheda) for one who has attained (samāpanna)"?
[Sakavādin:] Yes.
[Paravādin:] But were not thought-conception and discursive thought (vitakka-vicāra) declared by the Blessed One to be verbal formations (vacīsaṅkhāra)? And are there not thought-conception and discursive thought for one who has attained the first jhāna?
[Sakavādin:] Yes.
[Paravādin:] If thought-conception and discursive thought were declared by the Blessed One to be verbal formations, and there are thought-conception and discursive thought for one who has attained the first jhāna, then indeed, good sir, it should be said: "There is utterance of speech for one who has attained."
