[867] Sakavādin: Could a householder (gihī) be an Arahant (arahā)? Paravādin: Yes. S: Does the fetter of a householder (gihisaññojana) exist for the Arahant? P: It should not be said thus. … S: Does the fetter of a householder not exist for the Arahant? P: Yes. S: If the fetter of a householder does not exist for the Arahant, then indeed you should not say: "A householder could be an Arahant."
