Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 823

[823] "For whomever, wherever, the nose faculty (ghānindriya) never arose: did the joy faculty (somanassindriya) never arise for that one there?" For form-sphere beings (rūpāvacara): for them, there, the nose faculty never arose, but it is not the case that the joy faculty never arose for them there. For beings of the Pure Abodes (suddhāvāsa), for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), and for formless beings (arūpa): for them, there, both the nose faculty never arose and the joy faculty never arose. "Or, for whomever, wherever, the joy faculty never arose: did the nose faculty never arise for that one there?" Yes.
