[41] Then Sakka, lord of the devas (Sakko devānamindo), when the night was far advanced, of surpassing radiance, illuminating the entire woodland grove, approached the Blessed One; having approached, he paid homage to the Blessed One and stood to one side, like a great mass of fire, more surpassing and more sublime than the previous radiances.
Then, when that night had passed, Uruvelakassapa the matted-hair ascetic (jaṭila) approached the Blessed One; having approached, he said this to the Blessed One: "It is time, great ascetic; the meal is ready. But who indeed was that, great ascetic, who, when the night was far advanced, of surpassing radiance, illuminating the entire woodland grove, approached you; having approached, paid homage to you and stood to one side, like a great mass of fire, more surpassing and more sublime than the previous radiances?"
"That, Kassapa, was Sakka, lord of the devas, who approached me in order to hear the Dhamma."
Then it occurred to Uruvelakassapa the matted-hair ascetic: "Of great psychic power (iddhi) indeed is the great ascetic, of great might, in that even Sakka, lord of the devas, comes to hear the Dhamma. Yet still he is not an arahant as I am."
Then the Blessed One, having eaten the meal of Uruvelakassapa the matted-hair ascetic, dwelt in that same woodland grove.
