[52] Nadīkassapa the matted-hair ascetic (jaṭila) saw the hair, the matted locks, the pole-loads of requisites (khārikāja), and the fire-worship implements being carried along in the water. Having seen this, it occurred to him: "May no misfortune have befallen my brother!" He sent jaṭilas, saying, "Go and find out about my brother," and he himself, together with three hundred jaṭilas, approached the Venerable Uruvelakassapa. Having approached, he said this to the Venerable Uruvelakassapa: "Kassapa, is this indeed better?"
"Yes, friend, this is better."
Then those jaṭilas, having let their hair, their matted locks, their pole-loads of requisites, and their fire-worship implements float away in the water, approached the Blessed One. Having approached, they prostrated with their heads at the Blessed One's feet and said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, may we receive the going forth (pabbajjā) in the Blessed One's presence; may we receive the full ordination (upasampadā)."
"Come, bhikkhus," the Blessed One said. "Well-proclaimed is the Dhamma; live the holy life (brahmacariya) for the complete making an end of suffering (dukkha)."
That very utterance was the full ordination of those venerable ones.
