[74] Bhikkhus heard those people complaining, criticizing, and spreading it about. Then those bhikkhus reported this matter to the Blessed One.
"Bhikkhus, that sound will not last long; it will last only seven days; with the passing of seven days it will disappear. Well then, bhikkhus, when they reproach you with this verse:
The Great Ascetic (mahāsamaṇa) has come
to Giribbaja of the Magadhans;
having led away all of Sañjaya's followers,
whom now will he lead away?"
