[1149] A phenomenon (dhamma) associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling (adukkhamasukhā vedanā) is a condition, by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), for a phenomenon associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling.
Having given a gift (dāna), undertaken virtue (sīla), and performed the uposatha observance (uposathakamma) with a mind (citta) associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling, they review it with a mind associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling. Having emerged from jhāna associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling, having emerged from the path (magga), having emerged from fruition (phala), they review it with a mind associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling.
Noble ones (ariyā), with a mind associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling, review the abandoned defilements (kilesa) associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling; they review the suppressed defilements; they know the defilements formerly indulged in. They contemplate with insight the aggregates (khandhā) associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling — with a mind associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling — as impermanent (anicca), as suffering (dukkha), as not-self (anattā); they relish them and delight in them. With that as object, lust (rāga) associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling arises, view (diṭṭhi) arises, doubt (vicikicchā) arises, restlessness (uddhacca) arises.
By the knowledge (ñāṇa) of penetrating the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa), they know the mind of one endowed with a mind associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling.
The sphere of the infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana) is a condition, by object condition, for the sphere of the infinity of consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana). … The sphere of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana) is a condition, by object condition, for the sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana).
Aggregates associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling are a condition, by object condition, for the knowledge of supernormal powers (iddhividha-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of penetrating the minds of others, for the knowledge of the recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussati-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of faring according to kamma (yathākammūpaga-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsa-ñāṇa), and for adverting (āvajjana).
With aggregates associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling as object, aggregates associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling arise.
