[1151] A phenomenon (dhamma) associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling (adukkhamasukhā vedanā) is a condition, by way of object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya), for a phenomenon associated with painful feeling (vedanā). Having given a gift (dāna), undertaken the precepts (sīla), and performed the uposatha observance (uposathakamma) with a mind (citta) associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling, grief (domanassa) arises in one who feels regret (vippaṭisāra); when the jhāna associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling has been lost, grief arises in one who feels regret; taking as object the aggregates (khandhā) associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling, aggregates associated with painful feeling arise.
