[1289] Dependent on a phenomenon that is neither resultant nor productive of resultants (nevavipākanavipākadhammadhamma), there arises a phenomenon that is neither resultant nor productive of resultants, not by faculty condition (na indriya-paccayā): external … originating from nutriment … originating from temperature — dependent on one primary element (mahābhūta), three primary elements arise; for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), dependent on the primary elements, the material life-faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) arises.
