Abhidhammapiṭaka · Paṭṭhāna (1) · Vol. 40 · Section 1357

[1357] A resultant (vipāka) phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition for a resultant phenomenon by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya): One contemplates the resultant aggregates (khandha) with insight as impermanent (anicca), as suffering (dukkha), as non-self (anattā); one relishes and delights in them. Taking that as object, lust (rāga) arises, wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises, doubt (vicikicchā) arises, restlessness (uddhacca) arises, grief (domanassa) arises. When the wholesome (kusala) and the unwholesome (akusala) have ceased, the resultant arises as registration (tadārammaṇatā). A resultant phenomenon is a condition for a phenomenon productive of results (vipākadhammadhamma) by object condition: Trainees (sekkha) review the fruition (phala); they contemplate the resultant aggregates with insight as impermanent, as suffering, as non-self; they relish and delight in them. Taking that as object, lust arises … grief arises. By the knowledge that penetrates the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa), they know the mind (citta) of one possessed of a resultant mind. The resultant aggregates are a condition for the knowledge that penetrates the minds of others, for the knowledge of the recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussatiñāṇa), for the knowledge of beings' faring according to their kamma (yathākammūpagañāṇa), and for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsañāṇa) by object condition. A resultant phenomenon is a condition for a phenomenon that is neither a result nor productive of results (nevavipākanavipākadhammadhamma) by object condition: An Arahant reviews the fruition; he contemplates the resultant aggregates with insight as impermanent, as suffering, as non-self. By the knowledge that penetrates the minds of others, he knows the mind of one possessed of a resultant mind. The resultant aggregates are a condition for the knowledge that penetrates the minds of others, for the knowledge of the recollection of past lives, for the knowledge of the future, and for adverting (āvajjana) by object condition.
