[1358] A phenomenon productive of result (vipākadhammadhamma) is a condition for a phenomenon productive of result by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya).
Having given a gift (dāna), undertaken virtue (sīla), and performed the uposatha observance (uposathakamma), one reviews it; one reviews what was formerly well practised; having emerged from jhāna, one reviews the jhāna. Trainers (sekkha) review change-of-lineage (gotrabhū); they review cleansing (vodāna). Trainers, having emerged from the path (magga), review the path. Trainers review the defilements (kilesa) that have been abandoned; they review the defilements that have been suppressed; they know the defilements formerly indulged in. They see with insight the aggregates (khandha) that are productive of result as impermanent (anicca), as suffering (dukkha), as non-self (anattā); they enjoy them, they delight in them; with that as object, lust (rāga) arises … grief (domanassa) arises. By the knowledge of others' minds (cetopariya-ñāṇa) they know the mind (citta) of one possessing a mind productive of result.
The wholesome (kusala) of the base of the infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana) is a condition for the wholesome of the base of the infinity of consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana) by object condition … The wholesome of the base of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana) is a condition for the wholesome of the base of neither-perception-nor-non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana) by object condition.
Aggregates that are productive of result are a condition for the knowledge of psychic power (iddhividha-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of others' minds, for the knowledge of recollection of past lives (pubbenivāsānussati-ñāṇa), for the knowledge of how beings fare according to their kamma (yathākammūpaga-ñāṇa), and for the knowledge of the future (anāgataṃsa-ñāṇa) by object condition.
A phenomenon productive of result is a condition for a resultant (vipāka) phenomenon by object condition.
One sees with insight the aggregates that are productive of result as impermanent, as suffering, as non-self; one enjoys them, one delights in them; with that as object, lust arises … grief arises. When the wholesome and the unwholesome have ceased, the resultant arises as registration (tadārammaṇatā).
The wholesome of the base of the infinity of space is a condition for the resultant of the base of the infinity of consciousness by object condition … The wholesome of the base of nothingness is a condition for the resultant of the base of neither-perception-nor-non-perception by object condition.
A phenomenon productive of result is a condition for a phenomenon that is neither a resultant nor productive of result (nevavipākanavipākadhammadhamma) by object condition.
An Arahant (arahā), having emerged from the path, reviews the path; he reviews what was formerly well practised. An Arahant reviews the defilements that have been abandoned; he knows the defilements formerly indulged in. He sees with insight the aggregates that are productive of result as impermanent, as suffering, as non-self. By the knowledge of others' minds he knows the mind of one possessing a mind productive of result.
The wholesome of the base of the infinity of space is a condition for the functional (kiriyā) of the base of the infinity of consciousness by object condition … The wholesome of the base of nothingness is a condition for the functional of the base of neither-perception-nor-non-perception by object condition.
Aggregates that are productive of result are a condition for the knowledge of others' minds, for the knowledge of recollection of past lives, for the knowledge of how beings fare according to their kamma, for the knowledge of the future, and for adverting (āvajjana) by object condition.
