[547] An unwholesome phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition for an unwholesome phenomenon by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya). Object decisive-support: Giving weight to lust (rāga), one relishes it and delights in it; giving weight to that, lust arises, wrong view (diṭṭhi) arises. Giving weight to wrong view, one relishes it and delights in it; giving weight to that, lust arises, wrong view arises. Proximity decisive-support: Each preceding set of unwholesome aggregates (khandha) is a condition for each succeeding set of unwholesome aggregates by decisive-support condition. Natural decisive-support: In dependence on lust, one kills a living being, takes what is not given, speaks falsely, speaks divisively, speaks harshly, chatters frivolously, breaks into houses, carries off plunder, plunders a solitary house, waits in ambush on the highway, goes to another's wife, massacres a village, massacres a market town, deprives one's mother of life, deprives one's father of life, deprives an Arahant of life, with a malicious mind (citta) sheds the blood of a Tathāgata, causes schism in the Saṅgha. In dependence on hatred (dosa) … in dependence on delusion (moha), in dependence on conceit (māna), in dependence on wrong view … in dependence on longing (patthanā), one kills a living being … causes schism in the Saṅgha. Lust … hatred, delusion, conceit, wrong view … longing are a condition for lust, for hatred, for delusion, for conceit, for wrong view, for longing, by decisive-support condition.
