[546] A wholesome phenomenon (kusala dhamma) is a condition for an indeterminate phenomenon (abyākata dhamma) by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Object decisive-support: An Arahant (arahā), having emerged from the path (magga), reviews the path, esteeming it.
Proximity decisive-support: The wholesome [is a condition] for emergence (vuṭṭhāna); the path for fruition (phala); the conformity (anuloma) of trainees (sekkha) for the attainment of fruition (phala-samāpatti); for one emerging from cessation (nirodha), the wholesome [consciousness] of the base of neither-perception-nor-non-perception is a condition for the attainment of fruition by decisive-support condition.
Natural decisive-support: In dependence on faith (saddhā), one torments oneself, tortures oneself, and experiences suffering (dukkha) rooted in seeking.
Virtue (sīla) … learning (suta) … generosity (cāga) … in dependence on wisdom (paññā), one torments oneself, tortures oneself, and experiences suffering rooted in seeking.
Faith … virtue, learning, generosity … wisdom is a condition for bodily pleasure, for bodily pain, and for the attainment of fruition by decisive-support condition.
Wholesome kamma is a condition for [its] result (vipāka) by decisive-support condition.
An Arahant, in dependence on the path, produces the functional attainment (kiriya-samāpatti) that has not arisen, enters upon [the attainment] that has arisen, and sees with insight formations (saṅkhārā) as impermanent, as suffering, as non-self.
The path is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for an Arahant's discrimination of meanings (attha-paṭisambhidā), discrimination of ideas (dhamma-paṭisambhidā), discrimination of language (nirutti-paṭisambhidā), discrimination of ready wit (paṭibhāṇa-paṭisambhidā), and for skill in the possible and the impossible (ṭhānāṭhāna-kosalla).
The path is a condition for the attainment of fruition by decisive-support condition.
