[615] An indeterminate (abyākata) phenomenon (dhamma) is a condition for an indeterminate phenomenon by presence condition (atthi-paccaya): conascent (sahajāta), prenascent (purejāta), postnascent (pacchājāta), nutriment (āhāra), faculty (indriya). Conascent: One resultant-indeterminate (vipākābyākata) or functional-indeterminate (kiriyābyākata) aggregate (khandha) is a condition for the three aggregates and for mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by presence condition; three aggregates are a condition for one aggregate and for mind-originated forms by presence condition; two aggregates are a condition for two aggregates and for mind-originated forms by presence condition. At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), one resultant-indeterminate aggregate is a condition for the three aggregates and for kamma-born forms (kaṭattā-rūpa) by presence condition; three aggregates are a condition for one aggregate and for kamma-born forms by presence condition; two aggregates are a condition for two aggregates and for kamma-born forms by presence condition. The aggregates are a condition for the base (vatthu) by presence condition; the base is a condition for the aggregates by presence condition. One great element (mahābhūta) is a condition for three great elements by presence condition; three great elements are a condition for one great element by presence condition; two great elements are a condition for two great elements by presence condition; the great elements are a condition for mind-originated and kamma-born derived forms (upādā-rūpa) by presence condition. External (bāhira) … nutriment-originated (āhārasamuṭṭhāna) … temperature-originated (utusamuṭṭhāna) … For non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), one great element is a condition for three great elements by presence condition; three great elements are a condition for one great element by presence condition; two great elements are a condition for two great elements by presence condition; the great elements are a condition for mind-originated and kamma-born derived forms by presence condition. Prenascent: An Arahant contemplates with insight the eye as impermanent (anicca), as suffering (dukkha), as not-self (anattā); the ear … the nose, the tongue, the body, forms, sounds, odors, tastes, tangibles … he contemplates with insight the base as impermanent, as suffering, as not-self. He sees a form with the divine eye; he hears a sound with the divine ear element. The form base (rūpāyatana) is a condition for eye-consciousness by presence condition; the sound base … the odor base, the taste base, the tangible base is a condition for body-consciousness by presence condition. The eye base is a condition for eye-consciousness by presence condition; the ear base for ear-consciousness, the nose base for nose-consciousness, the tongue base for tongue-consciousness; the body base is a condition for body-consciousness by presence condition. The base is a condition for the resultant-indeterminate and functional-indeterminate aggregates by presence condition. Postnascent: Resultant-indeterminate and functional-indeterminate aggregates are a condition for this prenascent body by presence condition. Edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāra āhāra) is a condition for this body by presence condition. The material life faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) is a condition for kamma-born forms by presence condition.
